In an effort to make the game of golf more accessible and enjoyable for its Members, the Golf Professional Staff has placed more emphasis on the enhancement of instructional programs with the Prestonwood Junior Golf Association (PJGA) leading the charge.

“The PJGA’s overall mission is to create a diverse offering of instructional programs and competitive events for junior golfers of all ages and playing abilities,” said Brian Burgwyn, Association Coordinator. “Our team strives to provide an environment that instills confidence in our juniors.”

A Family Affair
In partnership with the PGA Family Course Program and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), PGA Family Tees have been added to Prestonwood’s Fairways Course, providing a shorter, par-3 experience for beginners, youth and families wishing to experience the game together.  To further their mission, Prestonwood has integrated family competitions into the PJGA schedule including monthly Parent-Child competitions and a new Senior-Junior Challenge.

Regional Recognition
The PJGA received regional recognition with their selection as the host club for the 46th Annual North Carolina Junior Championship in June 2013.  With more than ten Prestonwood junior program graduates currently competing in Division I college golf, the PJGA is on track to become the premiere youth golf experience in the Triangle.
