The warmer months produce a sense of rest and relaxation for many. Sunshine and rising temperatures bring different feelings for the Prestonwood Piranhas Swim and Dive Team, that of competition and improvement. Over 300 participants ranging from ages 3-18 use their talents to represent Prestonwood. The Piranhas have proven themselves a successful program, as team members have worked together and won the Cary City Championship every season since 2004.
Not only is the team focused on competition and improvement, the main goal is for everyone to have fun. Swim and dive team members truly enjoy the camaraderie and community that comes from being part of the organization. At meets you can find the blue and green clad Piranhas cheering on their teammates, excited for every finish.  The fantastic coaches are also there supporting each team member as they perform.  The team plans activities outside of the pool as well.  They visit the movie theater, the bowling alley, and Greensboro’s Wet & Wild Water Park to strengthen their bond.
Among the notable alumni from the Prestonwood Piranhas Swim Team is Hannah Moore. Hannah is currently a University of Michigan swimmer and was the 2012 USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals Champion.  Hannah has competed in US Olympic trials against women who represent the United States in competition every four years. Hannah holds a North Carolina High School Athletic Association state record in the 100 backstroke that she achieved when helping her high school team finish 2nd in the 4A class. She has achieved great success thus far in her swimming career and is sure to continue that tradition as she progresses.
The Piranhas are preparing for their upcoming season, in which they will try to defend their title as Cary City Champions and achieve both individual and team success.
