Matt Massei, General Manager
Before joining Prestonwood, Matt Massei was the General Manager of Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, NH, where he managed 400+ staff and oversaw 365 lodging rooms, food and beverage operations, golf and club operations, townhome/condominium management, and retail operations. Prior t
o 2006, Massei was at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club for 15 years, where he rose to VP of Golf and Club Operations overseeing eight golf courses. A graduate of the University of Richmond with a degree in Business Administration, Massei resides in Cary with his wife Lisa and their three children Anna, Luke and Jack.
Jim Gray, Controller
Jim Gray has been the controller at Prestonwood Country Club since 2009. His responsibilities include the financial, accounting, and general administration of the Club. Jim is a certified public accountant and a member of the NCACPA, AICPA, and HFTP. He has lived in the area with his wife and their two sons since graduating from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
Vickie Gregory, Membership Director
Vickie is a graduate of Atlantic Christian College and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education. She taught public school for seven years. Prior to joining Prestonwood at the club's inception in 1988 as Membership Director, she became a realtor which gave her valuable sales experience. Vickie resides in Raleigh and has one son, Storm. Her hobbies include drawing, painting and gardening.

Chef Trey Smith 
Executive Chef

At the tender age of 13, Chef Trey Smith discovered as a Boy Scout that he loved experimenting with food while cooking on camping trips. After graduating high school with honors, he attended Wake Technical Community College where he graduated with an Associates and Applied Science degree in Culinary Technology in 2002.
Chef Trey has over 15 years of experience in the culinary industry, including stints at Casa Carbone Italian Resturant, Carolina Country Club, and An Cuisines. Chef Trey was recently promoted from Sous Chef to Executive Chef due to his exemplary skills and dedication. 

Marc Kmec, Human Resources Director 

Prior to arriving at Prestonwood, Marc Kmec has spent over twenty five years in the RTP area leading the HR function in the chemical and composite panel industries for Reichhold, Dupont Display Technologies, Pergo and Arauco Panels.  Most recently, he operated Kmec Consulting, a human resources consulting firm. Marc holds a BS in Education from Rutgers College in New Jersey as well as a certificate in Labor Studies from Cornell University.  He is also a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Marc lives in Cary, NC with his wife Linda and has a son and daughter who still reside in NC.  He is an avid college sports fan, enjoys the beach, fishing and cooking for family and friends.
 

John Sluck, Director of Food and Beverage
John Sluck comes to Prestonwood with over a decade of private club experience after stints at Wakefield Plantation, Croasdaile Country Club and Rivers Club in Pennsylvania. He also previously managed his own catering restaurant, as well as served as the General Manager at Maggiano's Little Italy. John enjoys spending time with his wife, Andrea and son, Shane. He is an avid Penn State and Duke fan.

Larry Conner, Director of Golf Operations
Joining Prestonwood in 2001, Conner was previously the National Director of Golf for Toll Brothers Inc. at Brier Creek Country Club. He was involved in seven ground-up residential Arnold Palmer Signature Course golf developments and was previously the Corporate Director of Golf for Dominion Resources and Two Rivers Country Club at Governor's Land in Williamsburg, VA. A graduate of the University of Florida with undergraduate degrees in Business Management & Marketing, Conner's career started as a player, teacher and professional at the Walt Disney World Golf Resort in Orlando, FL. Larry and his wife Denise reside in Cary, NC.
Lee Hancock, Director of Golf Course Maintenance
While at Clemson University working toward a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture: Turfgrass Management, Lee jumped right into the golf industry, beginning his career with an internship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. After completing his degree, he advanced through the industry, with stints at The Atlanta Athletic Club and Reynolds Plantation, and served as Golf Course Superintendent at The Greenbrier Sporting Club for 12 years. Outside of work, Lee enjoys spending time with his wife Suzanne, daughter Caroline, and their two dogs. They enjoy playing golf, gardening, and traveling. 
Mike Barker, Director of Fitness & Aquatics
Prior to arriving at Prestonwood in 1997, Mike was the Exercise Physiologist at Southwind Physical Therapy in Durham, NC where he designed conditioning programs for patients with orthopedic concerns and helped create a community wellness program.  While earning a Master’s degree in Exercise Science at Appalachian State University, Mike also served as the Assistant Strength Coach for men’s basketball, wrestling, and baseball teams.  In addition to managing the Prestonwood Fitness facility, Mike conducts personal training sessions and leads small group clinics related to golf conditioning, core training, and youth speed and agility development.  Mike lives in Fuquay-Varina with his wife Sherry and their two children Madison and Jackson.
Amber Gordon, Kids Club Director
Before joining Prestonwood in Spring 2014, Amber had 17 years of experience working in child programming with the YMCA overseeing their Track Out program. Her vast experience and genuine enthusiasm for the position is undoubtedly going to make her a great addition to the staff. Gordon and her husband, Scott, have two children.

Dan Weant, Director of Tennis
Dan Weant has been the Director of Tennis at Prestonwood Country Club since the program's inception in 1988. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University where he won a Southern conference singles title and posted the best win-loss record for three straight years. Dan also holds a Master's degree in Exercise Science and Physiology from East Carolina University. As a player Dan has won four N.C. State Championship singles titles, eight doubles titles and one Southern Closed doubles title. As a coach Dan was voted the North Carolina Association of Tennis Professionals Pro of the year in 1985 and was formerly the coach for the Raleigh Edge of the professional World Team Tennis League. He also won the North Carolina Junior Tennis Council Award in 1996.  A certified USPTA professional since 1985, Dan is currently a USTA Area Training Center coach and a USTA Zones coach. A native of Salisbury, North Carolina, Dan brings 30+ years of teaching experience and enthusiasm to the Prestonwood Tennis Program.
